PORT ALLEGANY AREA ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
Do Business in a Vacation Location
Port Allegany invites you, your family, or start-up-business to relocate to their safe, rural town nestled in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains. Port Allegany is located along the Allegheny River and PA’s most scenic byway – PA Route 6.
The town was originally known as Canoe Place because it was the location where travelers coming overland from the Susquehanna River could rest before continuing by boat on the Allegheny River. Outdoor recreation includes fishing, kayaking, and canoeing on the Allegheny River and hiking and biking the nearby trails in the Allegheny National Forest and Kinzua Bridge State Park. High quality education and programming is offered by two school systems, the Port Allegany Area School District and the Seneca Highlands Career & Technical School. Summertime brings Town Square Musical Concerts.
Major Attractions include Serenity Glass Park and Lynn Hall. Serenity Glass Park features brilliant architectural displays of shimmering glass which celebrate the town’s glass-making history. Lynn Hall, built in 1934 by local, self-taught architect Walter J. Hall is considered an early example of Organic Prairie Architecture and is listed on the National Historic Registry of Historic Places.
